Insite was developed, in part, as a vessel monitoring systems component. Vessel monitoring systems (VMS) are used by private yachts and commercial industries to allow individuals, corporations, environmental and regulatory organizations to monitor the position, time at a position, and course and speed of vessels.
The Insite System:
Insite is loaded with features for monitoring and tracking moveable assets. Below is a typical installation that may be found in a marine application such as a yacht.

Numerous systems are controlled and monitored in this application.
The Ship's Security Alarm system is connected to send a message like: "Insite warning: Security intrusion"
The Ship's Engine and Service batteries are connected to Insite's Telemetry inputs. When a qualified user needs to know the state of the batteries on the yacht, he sends Insite a message: "T1A"
The immediate response to his phone may be: "Insite Telemetry Service Battery Voltage = 13.4 Volts".
A number of devices like Bilge water level, Smoke alarms, P.I.R. sensor and bilge pump operation are monitored.
One of the remote wireless sensors is used to send an alarm when the yacht is moved from its dock and Insite loses the WiPAN signal.
The owner can send Insite the following message to find out where it is and where it is going: " GPS"
The response from Insite usually, within a minute, may be something like:
"Insite GPS Lat 26,24,43.07 Long 115,32,23.45, spd 24 Kn, Co 270 T, Alt 6ft 26 24 GoogleMap: 26 24 43.07 -115 32 23.45"
These co-ordinates can be directly plotted onto Google-Map.
If the owner determines the vessel has been stolen, he may at the appropriate moment, send Insite another message that can disable the engines
Insite also has built-in, a temperature sensor that can send a 'High temp', 'Low temp' or 'Temp in range' message to selected phone numbers.
It will also advise whenever shore power is lost and when restored.
